My Background
Konnichiwa!
(means hello or hi in Japanese) (ko-ni-chi-wa) My
name is Victoria, I'm 11 years old,
my birthday is on June 21, and this my life about me.
When I got here to Sacramento, I used to lived in this small apartment.
Soon, my parents wanted to move into a bigger house. As I was growing
up, I had a little baby brother. We used to play a lot, but we got
tired
of each other. I had a lot of friends, but they moved or transferred to
different schools. My parents are from Vietnam, and they both speak
Vietnamese and a little bit of Chinese. When it was during
the war, they had to go all to way to San Francisco. They both have
little education because they both had to support their family. My mom
didn't' want to have little education, so she supported her family
and
paid for her own education. My dad couldn't do both because he has 13
siblings (counting my dad), his oldest sister died because she had
cancer, and one of his older brothers also died because he had some kind
of stroke. My mom has only 3 siblings (counting my mom), she is the
second oldest and during the war, her dad was taken away and her
oldest
sister was left behind. Her dad died when she was around eight. Her sister came to America around 2006 or 2007. These are the
things about my background.
My Culture
This are some things about my cultures. My two cultures are Vietnamese
and Chinese. On New Year's Day, my family and I always go to my
grandma's house (on my dad's side of the family) to celebrate for 3
days. After going there, we go to my Vietnamese school to watch many
performances like dances, singing cultural songs, and skits. After
that we have to be thankful for the money we get in red envelopes from
our friends and family. These some of the things I do in my
culture.
My Personality
These are some of the things about my personality. My
personality is funny, clueless, and energetic. I'm funny because I got
that from both of my parents. I'm clueless because sometimes I really
don't know what is going on around me. I'm also energetic because I'm
sort of like a little puppy (when I'm playing a volleyball match). I usually wear jeans or capris with a t-shirt, so it's very rare
for me to wear a skirt or dress (unless it's for special occasions). I
may look like a girly-girl, but I'm not, I'm very tomboyish (don't know
if it's a word). I have an unrealitive "twin". Her name is Sharon, and
we're not actually "twins", we just get confused with mostly our
teachers (when we are in the same class) and sometimes with our
friends. I also like to play video games like Rock Band 2, Naruto, and
many more. These are the things that are in my personality.
Teacher's Message
Teacher's Message
I have really enjoyed having Victoria in our class these past three years. She works very hard and as a result is advanced in many areas. She is also an avid reader which has helped her reading and writing immensely. During free time in class, she would take out these very thick books and read until we ran out of time. I could always count on her to come to school, ready to learn, with a positive attitude. Victoria is a very considerate person with many friends. She is the kind of leader who would often voluntarily help her classmates when they needed it. My favorite memory of Victoria was the fun we had at Sly Park. I played a couple of pranks on her and a new friend she had met there. Both of them had a good attitude about it, and we all shared some good laughs. I also remember the delicious food that her family would prepare for me during home visits. Without a doubt, she will do well in the future and since I will be teaching her little brother, I look forward to hearing about her future accomplishments. Great job Victoria!
